Given butter containing 80 % fat, the MSNF component can be calculated as follows: 100 kg of butter of 80 % fat is equivalent to 80 kg of butter and 20 kg of MSNF. The MSNF in the 20 kg of skim is 20*0.09 = 1.8 kg or 1.8 % in the butter. This approach yields approximate values.
