Readers of this forum will be aware that there has been quite a lot of discussion concerning how to calculate the cumulate lethality during thermal processing. There is a free F calculator on the site
and there is also the option of downloading an Excel spreadsheet using the trapezium or trapezoid method to calculate the area under the curve.

Interest in a more accurate method for determining the area under the lethal rate time plot has continued and I have made a new spreadsheet available for http://www.dairyscience.info/feedback/citefo.asp" rel="nofollow - download . This has been programmed to use Simpson's rules and generally offers a significantly more accurate method for determining F values. Fahrenheit and Celsius versions have been provided as has D, Z, and reference temperature data for major food spoilage organisms.
