Hi,

I am interested in developing my own food products, so I thought the best way to learn would be to do a PhD program and gain the knowledge.  I am not a food scientist, I'm an engineer but I have had recent experience in a food manufacturing company.  I have a few questions and would appreciate your answers:

- In order for me to gain the knowledge so I can develop my own products, would a PhD be the right way to go? I know I can do a masters but I don't get paid for it and I don't the money to do that.
- I reside in Los Angeles, is there a school that does a good PhD program close to where I live for what I am trying to achieve, and what is this program called?
- For a PhD, is there an exam I would have to take? If so can anyone suggest any books, website so I can prepare for it?

Thank you

Aden
