Fonz,

Related to the amount of recylced vs virgin board. Your supplier should be able to tell you the "before and after" compression values such as your "ECT". Perhaps there is a limited amount of recycled board that can be in your folding carton.

Agree with Michael other factors such as stacking pattern, stretch film, loading of product in truck will impact product integrity.

I note that you do not have compression strength info for your packaging. You would be advised to investigate this area further and consider specifying particular values for future packaging.

In general as the content of recycled paper in packaging increases the compression strength decreases. The compression strength of your recycled packaging should be carefully considered in any investigation of this problem.

You didn't mention how you stack the product. This could also be a factor.

I suggest you use Google Scholar to research compression strength of recycled paper.

Hello fonz_11

This is a fairly common packaging problem.

1. Have you changed your packaging supplier or material?

2. Do you have a compression strength spec. that your packaging should meet? Have you measured the compression strength of the collapsed packaging?

3. Have you changed how you stack your pies?
