Part of a well established global manufacturer of food ingredients, primarily to the baking industry, this €multi-million European based corporation has manufacturing operations in Brazil, Chile, Peru and Ecuador with a trading company in Argentina. Turnover in the region currently amounts to c€40m and plans are in place for continued profitable growth.

The Role

• Reporting initially to the Europe based Chairman, the task is to lead the ongoing development of a structured, efficient and well controlled organisation with an enabling and customer centric culture.
• To prepare strategic objectives and a business development plan for the growth of all Latin American companies in alignment with group objectives and policies.
• The initial focus will be commercial in order to spearhead the sales expansion of the company’s products to both local and export markets.
• To work closely with all manufacturing operations ensuring that individual companies meet or exceed key performance indicators agreed in the strategic plan.
• To identify, support and promote new ventures in other countries allocated to the region, developing a suitable export organisation including clear reporting processes while ensuring compliance with all legislative regulations.

The Candidate

• Fluent language skills in Spanish and English are essential; Portuguese would also be an advantage.
• Of graduate calibre, ideally with a food technology or scientific qualification, candidates must have a General Manager or Managing Director level background.
• Your current/recent role will include full P&L responsibility must have been gained within the food sector – preferably the bakery, dairy or other short shelf life/convenience environment.
• Ideally, candidates will have a commercial/sales background but multisite operations expertise is also of interest.
• Strong candidates will have a sound understanding of Operations including Production, Quality, Logistics, Purchasing and Investment Project Management.
• Financial knowledge will combine with an awareness of the legal responsibilities and requirements of operating in the food industry.
• A team player and builder, the jobholder will be used to an open, supportive and collaborative management style as well as being energetic, enthusiastic and resilient.
